Why are you Running?

Life is full of ups and downs. Most of us trying to struggle in our daily lives. But at the end of the day how satisfied are you with yourself. Does that question ever bother you? There are actually very few whose lives have been inspirational to the world. For example Mother Teresa. She lived for others. Is that possible? No one lives for others. We can put it this way, that we live for others also, but devote our whole life for others is bragging. There are some people who actually dedicate their whole life to serving mankind. They are God's messengers. They are fortunate that god bestowed upon them a heart full of compassion and they served mankind selflessly.

This poem is a satire on all of us who are wasting our lives doing nothing worthwhile. Life is too precious. It doesn't just revolve around us.

Keep moving.........Don't stop

Since time immemorial movement has been significant in its own way

Movement for food, shelter for betterment of mankind we have come a long way.

Our life has become similar to an Athlete who is constantly running, but nowhere to go,
We are trying hard to live but not living, only running away from truth, for that is all we know.

On our way we meet many who sat down either due to exhaustion or realized this to be a futile effort,
We don't stop to ask them as to why they backed out of this journey, asking also involved too much effort.

Where was the time to waste on weaklings in extending a helping hand?

We have definitely come a long way alone, after starting the journey hand in hand.

We are very intelligent investor, and therefore are so energetic and still in the race,
Marching forward in every direction, be it earning wealth, name fame, none can match your pace.

For moving ahead in life your Mantra had been to look in front not behind,
Eyes fixed on an invisible destination and feet marching forward, a milestone for mankind.

At the cost of hundreds of lives, some who were sacrificed on your blind march towards Nowhere
And some who were tired, lay unattended, while your conscience asks you Now where?

Yes, yes, snigdha.s your poem speaks of the reality of life, not of how it should be but the sorry truth of how it is!!! Your concluding stanza sums it up perfectly:

"At the cost of hundreds of lives, some who were sacrificed on your blind march towards Nowhere

And some who were tired, lay unattended, while your conscience asks you Now where?"

This seems to be the question where "earning wealth, name fame" is the goal because no matter how wealthy and famous, they are they always striving for more and more.

I like your style of writing and your powerful message, thank you. My votes to you and sharing.
